Year 5 summer term homework

Here is the summer term homework for year 5. The children brought this home in their homework books on Friday. Due to the short term, this homework is to last until the end of next half term. Please encourage children to do a little bit of work from this sheet each week, and they must try to read to an adult at home at least 3 times a week. We are encouraging children to do this and to take ownership of their homework, to support their transition to Year 6 and secondary school. Thank you for your support.

5H and 5M reminder

Please could children bring a few empty food wrappers or packaging into school by the end of this week. We are going to be looking at where in the world our different foods come from. Many thanks. (5TM have already completed this activity)

Y5 Sports Journalism

A few children have expressed an interest in Y5 regarding being interested in Sports Journalism. I have managed to set up a question and answer interview session with my friend Dan O’Hagan, the Sky Sports Bundesliga and Football League commentator. If you are interested in how to get into Sports Journalism (commentating, analysing, writing about, blogging) and have any questions, please have them ready for this coming Tuesday (6th) when we will be recording the interview session.

This is a wonderful opportunity if you are interested in a career in Sports Journalism.

Any questions, please email me at thomas.marsh@taw.org.uk

YR 5 Autumn Term Homework

Please find the Autumn Term homework for the Year 5 children in the links below.

We have provided the children with some Maths which follows the work the children are completing in class, the Spelling words which are key Year 5 words – with some ideas for how to learn them, Reading expectations and Egyptian related homework – this to last until Christmas. New spellings will be assigned after October half term.

Please support your child where necessary and please contact us directly if you need anything more.

We are impressed with how all the children have settled into Year 5 and are quickly picking up the new rules and routines and we hope you have all noticed this too?

Kindest regards

5H message

Hi 5H parents,

Please can children bring some food packaging/labels to school on Thursday. We will be learning about where in the world our food comes from. (Eg. yoghurt pot, lettuce packet, banana label, carrot bag etc.)

Many thanks,

Miss Hardy
