Homework – Week 3

This week for homework the children will be given one of the following:

1 star – Adverbs activity.

2/3 Star – Tenses activity (please see the help sheet if needed).

Alongside the above the children will also have new spellings to learn, which will be tested Friday 25th January.

Spellings Wk 3

We would kindly ask that the children read 3 times to an adult during the week. Finally, due to the great success of times tables rock stars we are asking that the children can access this at least once or twice during the next week. From what we’ve heard so far, the children love it and it’s making a difference already!

As it is ‘future me day’ on Monday, a ‘talk homework’ will be coming home. This is for you and your child to discuss what they would like to be when they are older ready for dressing up on Monday. This does not have to be written down, it can be just a discussion.

Homework is due in Monday 21st or Tuesday 22nd January.

Have a lovely weekend!

Homework

This week the children will have science homework about forces. They will need to fill in the gaps and then design a shoe!

Alongside this, the children will need to read to an adult 3 times during the week.

Homework is due in on either Monday 14th or Tuesday 16th January.

Spellings Wk 13

In their homework books, the children have a new times tables task to complete. Alongside this the children need to read 3 times before next week.

We have decided to give children the opportunity the learn their lines for the Christmas production. Therefore, homework will only be spellings, reading and times tables.

Homework is due in Monday 3rd or Tuesday 4th December.

Homework – Week 12!

Homework- Spellings this week are topic based. The spelling test will be next Friday.

Spellings Wk 12

Times tables have always been a big part of the curriculum. From next September, there will be a times tables test in year 4. Children will only have 6 seconds per question. Therefore, each week, they will be receiving times tables homework to complete as well as reading 3 times and the set activity. We are starting with the 2x tables and will progress each week to secure the rapid recall.

This week, the children will come home with a fronted adverbial activity. Please read the guidance for parents, which contains an explanation so that you can help your child should they need it.

If you have any questions regarding homework, please do not hesitate to approach any of the year 4 teachers.

Finally, homework, which consists of: reading x3, spellings, times tables and an English activity, is due in Monday 26th or Tuesday 27th November.

Homework!

Please see the attached spellings for the next week.

Spellings Wk 11

For homework, the children will be completing a comprehension task. Each question is for a specific reading skill (something which we have looked at in depth in guided reading). The children are more than welcome to highlight any information they feel they need in the question or the text itself.

Homework is due in Monday 19th or Tuesday 20th November. The spelling test will be Friday 23rd of November.

Finally, we will be swimming on Tuesday again until the end of this term.

Have a lovely weekend!

Homework – Week 10!

Spellings Wk 10

This week the children have a variety of national curriculum spellings to learn. The spelling test will be next Friday (16th).

On top of this, the children have a multiplication activity. These are testing multiplication recall and the inverse using division. If your child is stuck, we would suggest using a multiplication grid to help with the tricky questions. You can find these online.

Homework will be due in Monday 12th or Tuesday 13th of November.

Well done to all the children for a fantastic week!

Half term homework!

When we return to school, it is national Peace week to celebrate the end of the First World War. Therefore, we are asking the children to research a local war hero… Wilfred Owen. They can decide what they would like to research and can present it in a poster or a fact file. The purpose of this will help support our Literacy as we explore two boys who grew up and went to war together. The research will help children recognise a real life perspective of WW1.

Spellings Wk 9

On top of this, the spellings are continuing to look into plurals. They will be tested on their spellings the first Friday back.

Even though it is half term, the children are still expected to read at least 3 times a week with an adult and record their reading in their diaries.

Homework is due in Monday 5th or Tuesday 6th of November.

Have a great week off!

Homework – Week 8

This week the children’s spellings are all plurals ending with an es.

For homework the children are focusing on adverbs. They have 5 sentences where they need to identify the adverb within. Then, they need to put the 5 adverbs into their own sentences (remembering full stops and capital letters).

The homework will be due in Monday 22nd or Tuesday 23rd of October.

Due to finishing school for half term on Thursday, the spelling test will be brought forward to Thursday 25th October.

Have a great weekend!
