Ella and Lily from Year 3 were the lucky winners of Mrs Breen’s Book Week Competition. They successfully spotted where Mrs Breen had hidden Wally around school! Wally was in the school hall. All successful entries went into a hat and Ella and Lily were the lucky ones drawn out for a book prize.

Book Poem Winner
Well done to Isla from 5M who completed a Book Poem in the same style as the one I had shared in assembly. I hope you enjoy it too!
On Monday I entered a book,
I jumped to my feet and did a back tuck.
On Tuesday I looked for a ghost in the hall,
While investigating I was having a ball.
On Wednesday I saw a robot from space,
A new journey we just had to chase.
On Thursday I went to my Gran to deliver food,
A nasty old wolf put me in a mood.
On Friday I got taken in a jar by a giant,
He was tall and big, but looked like a pig.
On Saturday I went on a spy mission catching SCORPIA,
I could sense that victory was near!
On Sunday I saw an old women rob a bank,
All of her jewellery and gold went clank!
Where will I go next week?

Thank you to Mrs Breen, our librarian, who contributes this time with her book favourites!
Book Week Poem.
This poem was shared in assembly today and we talked about how books can take you anywhere.
I have set a challenge for the children to write their own version of the poem, if they want to have a go.
Each day of the week they can pick a different kind of book to inspire the verse of their poem. Poems to be handed back to Mr R.
Book Day Costume Ideas.
Our dressing up day as part of Book Week is a fun and favourite fixture in our school year. This year it is Thursday 2nd March.
There is no intention to ask you to spend large amounts of money to purchase pre-made costumes. The link below, to mumsnet.com, has ideas for cheap and easy book character costume ideas.
We would love all the children to get involved and come in costume. Home-made, simple costumes will be just perfect!

What a wonderful day we have had! Two inspirational speakers and a Careers Fair in the afternoon.
Read more on this poster about the day.
Careers Fair at School
Good morning,
We are holding a careers fair at school this Friday afternoon (10th Feb), between 1.30pm and 3pm where children will get the chance to talk to people who are working in a range of different careers. They will get chance to ask questions and find out how the learning they are doing in class now might help them do jobs later in their lives.
Between 1.30pm and 2.15pm Year 6and Year 3 will go around the stalls
Then between 2.15pm and 3pm Year 5 and Year 4 will visit the Careers Fair.
I have a couple more tables I would love to fill with guests. If you are free tomorrow afternoon, to arrive at 1pm and leave at 3pm. If you are happy to talk about your chosen job to the children as they wander around the stalls in the school hall. We would love you to be part of our Careers Fair! Please email me directly if you are able to help andrew.rotherham@taw.org.uk
It will be on a first to get back to me basis sadly as I may not be able to fit everyone in who replies.
Thank you,
Mr Rotherham
