Year 4 Boys’ football

On Thursday afternoon the year 4 boys’ football team played St Peter and St Paul primary school.

The boys were superb from the first minute and raced into a 4-0 lead by half-time with goals from Luke, Harvey, Riley and George.

The 2nd half was a much tighter affair with St Peter and St Paul coming back into the game well and began to test the NJS keeper. They managed to get a goal back before Riley scored a 5th goal for NJS midway through the 2nd half.

From start to finish, all 10 boys were excellent with their attitude and teamwork and represented NJS amazingly.

Thankyou to SP and SP for hosting NJS and to all the parents/grandparents who came to watch.

6J Tag Rugby

6J have been impressing Mr J with thier tag rugby today! We built in a number of key skills: handling, passing, team work, communication and transitioning between attack and defence. A very enjoyable lesson for both teacher and children!

Class 3B Computing – Scratch coding

Class 3B had some fun this afternoon, learning to code using Scratch, a free, online, block-based coding language – check it out!

Children had to:

  • add 2 sprites
  • add several backgrounds
  • make both sprites move
  • add sound to their characters..

Eventually, children will create their own online piano or musical sound stage, using sequences of code. This was their first lesson – more to follow!

6B Street dance

For the next lesson, in our dance unit in PE, class 6B learnt some Street Dance moves and choreographed their own dance routines. We will have a go at performing them next week.

Well done everyone.

WW1 talk

Year 6 were very lucky to have a special guest come into school and give us a talk today. Mrs Davis told us about the impact that WWI had on the development of Prosthetic limbs, the NHS, and changes to the way in which people with disability were treated- such as the introduction of the Stoke Mandeville Games- a precursor to the Paralympics.  This was fascinating for us, as we’d spent a lot of time researching WW1 and the injuries that soldiers had sustained, for our narrative stories in English last week.

Thank you so much Mrs Davis. We really enjoyed it.

5J have enjoyed making Circuits with Crumble software today!

5J have enjoyed learning how to programme circuits to make LED lights work with Crumble software.
