Homework Overview Autumn Year 4 23 34
This will also be stuck into the front of the children’s homework books.

The children will also receive weekly handwriting/spellings to complete – these will be handed out weekly and stuck into homework books, alongside weekly timetables sheets to practice at home – these will be times tables that we have looked at in class and on TTRS.

Handwriting/Spellings: Spellings homework 1

Therefore although many of the homework tasks may take sometime, teachers do need to see homework books weekly so they can help to assess the children’s progress in these areas. These will usually be given straight back to the children once marked.

The handwriting/Spelling will also be posted on here weekly.

Many thanks for your support, remember we are always available if needed either face to face or email.

Year 4 TTRS Challenge 4M v 4N v 4OP

Today will mark the start of a whole Year 4 challenge on Times Table Rock Stars.

The challenge will be 4M v 4N v 4OP and will begin at 3:30pm today and end at 3:30pm on Tuesday 19th September. It will focus on the times tables that we are currently practicing in class which are the 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.

Please encourage your child to practice as often as possible. Lots of housepoints will be on offer for children participating in the challenge! (All children were given a reminder of their login details last week, which should be stuck in their HomeLink books.)

The TTRS app can be downloaded from the Appstore and Google Play Store for free.

Which class will be victorious???

4OP – What a wonderful world?

Today, we have had a fantastic B&V lesson looking at how wonderful our world is. We’ve had some in-depth discussions on what we consider to make our world special.

We had nature, animals, smiling and so many more shared.

Well done 4OP! Here we are on a nature scavenger hunt…

4M – Wednesday 6th September

We have had a fab day getting to know each other, and all the children have made a great first impression!!

Today we have completed a Maths lesson, chosen new reading books and sorted reading diaries, completed our home-link books for September and voted for our class book which we have started to read ” The Toilet of Doom!”

The children have been set a small piece of homework that needs to be ready for Friday morning. If they wish to become 4M’s School Council representative or 4M’s Sports Ambassador, they need to prepare a small speech which they will read to the rest of the class. The rest of the class will then vote in a democratic way (part of our PSHE work) for their chosen representatives. I am fully aware this is not for everyone – but please encourage your chid to take part. If they do not wish to do a speech they could present a small PowerPoint that they could share – this can be emailed to me.

I have spoken to the children about their reading books and they have all been issued a Yr 4 reading book (grey sticker banded) their other reading book is a free choice book from home. Both need to be with the children each day. The children have also been given their reading diaries, which they can complete each time they read – parents please can I ask that following the school policy you also complete these, at least three times per week, listening to your child read.

Please can we all be aware of the weather this week – sunhats, sun cream and drinks bottles are needed as we have some children with out.

If anyone has any problems queries then please do not hesitate to contact me on ben.moody@taw.org.uk

kindest regards

Mr M

A super 1st Day in 4OP!

What a day we have had in 4OP? It feels like we have blinked and it’s time to go home!

We have had a great day. We spent some time developing our handwriting in English and spent the afternoon looking at British values (specifically democracy and rule of law).

Well done 4OP!

Year 4 Welcome Back!!

The year 4 team are really looking forward to welcoming the children back to school on Wednesday. We hope you have enjoyed a rest over the summer break.

Just a gentle reminder that on Wednesday we are expecting the children to return to school with their pencil case, water bottle and P.E Kit. Children may also wish to bring a free choice reading book with them from home.

With the hot weather being forecast, we advise bringing sun hats and sun cream. We will share PE times and other dates via the children’s home link books which will be issued on Wednesday.

During the next few days we will be sorting our roles such as Worship Leaders, School Council and Sports Ambassadors – children may wish to begin thinking about a short speech they would like to deliver, if they feel confident enough to put themselves forward for any of these roles.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.

If you need any of us please feel free to contact us via email.
