Rainforest Day 4M 20/02/24

4M had a fab day with David the Rainforest Man, who entertained us with stories, photos and artefacts from rainforests from around the world, but mainly South America. During the afternoon the children got to hold a tarantula, a millipede, hissing cockroaches, giant stick insects and even a scorpion, they sketched the artefacts and even made traditional style rainforest necklaces, which they have come home with! A super day enjoyed by all!

Year 4 Rainforest Day Reminder – Tomorrow!!

Dear Parents and Carers

On Tuesday 20th February 2024, we are inviting Year 4 to take part in ‘Rainforest Day’ in school. This forms part of our Geography and Art curriculums and we are very excited and pleased to announce that this will be run by Dave and Sue Shaw, also known as ‘The Rainforest Couple.’ Dave and Sue are specialists in Primary School Rainforest workshops due to their lived experiences living in Costa Rica, Madagascar and Borneo to name a few places. Since returning to the UK with their daughters, Dave and Sue bring the magic of the rainforest into school with them and create a memorable day.

There will be some live rainforest creepy-crawlies coming along with them too to further add to the experience. This will be a chance for the children to see and hold in person some of the creatures that thrive in the rainforest. Children may be given the chance to hold these creatures if they wish. Please be reassured however, that no child will be asked to hold any insect if they do not wish to.

To enable this visit in school to go ahead, we will require a voluntary contribution of £6.00 and if there are not enough funds raised, then sadly the experience will not go ahead.

All permissions and payments have been made available via your ParentPay account.

As the Rainforest is known for its bright and vibrant colours, we are asking the children to dress up in bright clothing for the day, or as if they were from the Rainforest!

Thank you for your continuing support.

CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK!

Good morning everyone,

I hope that you have found the resources shared this week helpful. Tomorrow, the children will all be completing some tasks within the classroom. Look out for any posts about this from the teachers!

I am going to leave this final resource in the hope that it helps! Positive affirmations are a fantastic tool to support children with a variety of emotions. They help children think positively which can support a change in mindset.

CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK!

Good morning everyone,

Today, I am going to share some fantastic techniques to support children when needed. The first is a breathing technique and helps children focus to support feeling calm.

Star Breathing

Another technique I would suggest is the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 grounding method. This is great for helping children stop and focus on what is around them. This is really useful if children feel overwhelmed and can support helping them to stay calm.

I hope that you find these useful!
