Update on today…
Morning
Following my email earlier I am emailing to thank everyone for their support this morning.
The fire service attended NJS due to a concern in the Swimming Pool Plant Room this morning, there was no issue in the swimming pool room itself. The Fire Service and NJS team acted with caution, and I would like to reassure you that all students and staff are safe, and the incident was quickly concluded. As always, the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is top priority and all necessary protocols were followed to ensure everyone’s safety.
To clarify: the only reason for the road closure was due to the volume of traffic on Avenue Road this morning and cars parked opposite school gates which meant the Fire Service could not access the site.
Following the advice from the fire service, children continued with their assembly in the hall on arrival this morning and then returned to classrooms. They have enjoyed their breaktime and the rest of the day will run as normal.
I am incredibly grateful to the Fire Service for their support, to the school staff for their excellent response and to those parents who were supportive of us in doing as we asked this morning.
If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Missing black Nike coat
If anyone has accidentally taken home a black Nike coat please can you let a member of staff know. There has been a mix up with a year 3 pupil who accidentally took someone else’s off the playground instead of his own. Thank you!

New books for the library!
Thank you to all who came and visited the book fair this year. As a result of your purchases the school raised money to buy these new books. Here you can see our Junior Librarians ready to sort them to go on the shelves in the library.
Keeping Our School Safe….
Please can we ask that parents/carers do NOT bring dogs onto school site at drop off and collection times. Please do not put our staff in the difficult position of asking you to remove them.
We fully support children scooting and biking to school: amazing for the environment, safe travel and physical health. We do ask that children do NOT ride bikes or scooters on school site due to the volume of pedestrians and the risk this poses. We would appreciate your support in ensuring children do this.
Avenue Road and St Nicholas’ Park….
A resident has been in contact with the school on behalf of residents to raise a concern about parents and carers parking across driveways and on double yellow lines. Families have also been reported to have been walking on private gardens.
Please can we ask that our school community is considerate of our neighbours and that we make safe and considerate choices about travel to school. The residents are stating they will report concerns, with evidence, to the Police and Enforcement Officers.
Only this week Travel Telford have been in school speaking to the children about the benefits of Active Travel to school. It would be great if parents and carers could support children with finding opportunity for active travel to school by bike, scooter or walking.
Most of all let’s work together to keep our local roads safe for our children on their journey to school.
