Year 6 Christmas Party

On Wednesday afternoon, Year 6 children will be having their Christmas party. The children are welcome to bring their choice of comfortable clothing for the afternoon. As always, we ask the children to contribute to the party buffet by bringing in an item of food. Your child has volunteered to bring in a specific item(s) and they should have written this down in their homelink book as a reminder. Please can we remind you that we do have a severe nut allergy in Year 6 and therefore ask that no products containing nuts are bought into school. We also ask that there is no cheese or pineapple bought in as we also have children allergic to those items. If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher. Thanks in advance, the Year 6 team.

No spellings this week

All Year 3/4 spellings have been covered.
In the New Year, children will start to have different spellings. Some children are ready to move on to the Year 5/6 spellings but others need to secure these words and will repeat the Year 3/4 words.

Any queries please contact your class teacher.

Homework due 19th December

Read at least 3 times (per week) and ask an adult to sign your reading diary to confirm.

Complete the times table grid over the few evenings.

Complete the ordering fractions task – Questions 1-12 only ***/**

Complete the equivalent fractions activity *

***/** Finding fractions halfway between fractions

If I have two numbers like 4 and 10, I can find a number right in the
middle of them by adding the numbers and dividing the sum by 2:

4 + 10 14
—— = — = 7
2 2

It works with fractions, too! (In fact, it works with _any_ numbers.)

So to find a fraction halfway between 1/3 and 1/2,

1/3 + 1/2 2/6 + 3/6 5/6
——— = ——— = — = 5/12
2 2 2

Only one week to go!!

Well done!

Thank you and well done to the Year 6 children who performed in church tonight.  You sang and read beautifully.  Thank you to the staff who organised this performance.

Games/Athletics 28/11/18 – Cancelled

It is with great regret I am going to have to cancel our final games club of the year  this Wednesday (28/11).  Due to personal reasons I will not be able to run the final session.

I would like to thanks all pupils who have participated in the club through all weathers and been extremely engaged. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have running it.

I look forward to seeing many of you join me for another club in the coming new year.

All the best,

Mr Lawson
