Here is a sneak peak of the prizes for the Mental Health Week competition! For a chance at winning, send Mrs Wheat an email with a message or a photo showing me what you’ve done over the last week to mark Mental Health Week. Some ideas could be going for a walk, enjoying a hobby, supporting someone who is lonely, spending quality time with a friend. Send entries to megan.wheat@taw.org.uk by Friday 13th.
Beech’s Base
Year 3 have been busy at Beech’s Base 🙂
Our theme has been plants – linking to our Science inside the classroom.
We have worked hard doing lots of gardening; preparing areas for growing seeds replanting bluebells and even picked Nettles to make soup with. (This went down better than expected 🙂 !!)
In the Creativitree Area we used our artistic skills to create artwork of Tulips with sticks and forks!
We also looked at the life cycle of a flowering plant and recreated the cycle with natural items we found around Beech’s Base.
Mental Health Awareness Week
Next week is National Mental Health Awareness Week. We are celebrating this at NJS this week. Today children had a special assembly – they learnt about and discussed what mental health is, and why and how to look after their mental health.
We also discussed the theme of National Mental Health Awareness Week this year – loneliness – and how this can affect someone’s mental health and wellbeing.
We are running a competition to mark the awareness week – details here…
Class 3B Beech’s Base reminder
Dear Parents and Carers of Class 3B,
This is a reminder to all children in Mr Butler’s class, that they will be spending the whole day at Beech’s Base on Tuesday 3rd May.
Pease ensure your child comes to school dressed for the forest, and is wearing long sleeves and long trousers/bottoms. Please make sure they have a waterproof coat, as usual, and are dressed for the weather. They will also need a change of footwear and complete change of dry clothing, especially socks!
Lunch will take place in the usual way, in the dinner hall.
Kind regards,
Mr Butler

Just a quick reminder that the Year 3 Roman shield project work is due in by the end of this week, and that spellings will be tested by your child’s class teacher during next week. If you have already brought in your shield, well done! Hopefully, if enough are completed and brought in, we will engage the children in an interactive Roman army demonstration!
Please bring in any work completed in homework books, for house point rewards.
