Year 3 Bulletin
Mental Health Week
Next week, February 1st to 5th is Mental Health Week and we are celebrating the theme ‘Express Yourself’
Mental Health is very important and everyone’s wellbeing is valued at NJS.
We have a range of activities taking place across the week to support the children, whether they are in school or they are at home. There are challenges that the children and families can join in with.
On Wednesday the 3rd of February we are having an ‘Inside Out’ day where everyone needs to wear their clothes inside out and will be supported to share their feelings. We hope everyone in the NJS family joins in with this event.
Weekly challenges for everyone to try:

Please use our Wellbeing page on the website if you need advice or if you are looking for signposts to professional support.
Children will be receiving wellbeing activities across the week from their class teachers.
We hope everyone has a good week!
TTRS Champions
A HUGE well done to all those children have battled for their classes in this week’s TTRS Year Group Battle.
Well done the 3P, 4NJ, 5L & 6J who have been crowned the Year Group Champions after their victory – some FANTASTIC individual efforts from children, gaining an extraordinary amount of coins!
Keep your eyes on the school website for the next battle which won’t be too far away…… and will be a little different this time!

Bake with Miss J – Week 3
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you enjoy the recipe for this week… Chilli and Paprika Sausage Rolls! As always, I’ve created a short video to help show some of the process!
PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE AN ADULT SUPPORT/HELP WITH USING THE OVEN, MICROWAVE OR WHEN HANDLING HOT TRAYS. AN ADULT WILL NEED TO SUPPORT OR SUPERVISE WHEN USING KNIVES.
400-500g of sausage meat
Ready rolled puff pastry
A pinch of salt and pepper
1 beaten egg in a bowl
For the following herbs and spices… use ½ or 1 teaspoon.
Garlic Granules
Onion powder
Chilli flakes
Chilli powder
Paprika
Set your oven to 200 degrees, 180 degree (Fan) or gas mark 6.
- Set up two baking trays with baking paper. Split your ready rolled pastry in half and one half on each tray. Set these aside until later.
- Place the sausage meat into a bowl and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until fully combined.
- Add the garlic and onion granules to the mixture. Mix again.
- Add the chilli flakes, chilli powder and paprika to the mixture. Give the meat a final mix before forming the sausage rolls.
NOTE: If you do not want to use chilli or paprika, you could try Cajun powder or even a mild curry powder.
- Place half of the mixture onto one half of the pastry – in a line in the middle. You may need to spread this along the length of the pastry.
- Cover the edges with egg – I use a pastry brush for this part.
- Fold over the pastry so that it is covering the sausage meat in the middle. Crimp the edges by pressing down with a fork.
- Cut the sausage roll into 8. Move them so they have space between them on the tray.
- Using a knife, make a slit on the top of the sausage roll.
- Use the beaten egg to egg-wash the top of the sausage roll.
- Repeat all these steps using the other half of the pastry.
- Place the baking trays into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.
If you decide to make these sausage rolls, please do send an e-mail to Eloise.jones@taw.org.uk – I would love to see how they turn out!
Stay tuned for another recipe next Friday!
