School Photos

We were due to have school photos taken tomorrow. This has been cancelled due to the number of children not in school and the need to wear cooler clothing rather than uniform!

A new date will be arranged.

Thank you,

Mr Rotherham

Hot Weather

The staff and children at NJS have been fantastic in the way they’ve handled the heat this week. Everyone has shown great sense and resilience, and the measures in place have helped keep the school community as comfortable as possible.

With the warm weather set to continue through Friday, we would like to offer you the option to collect your child between 1.15 and 1.30pm tomorrow and Friday. We know the week’s heat has been tiring for many of the children, and this gives families some flexibility.

We completely understand that many of you may not be able to collect your child early, and we want to reassure you that there is absolutely no obligation to do so. Our dedicated staff will remain in school to supervise and support all children who stay.

If you do choose to collect your child, the gates will be open from 1.15–1.30pm, and you can use your usual entrance.

(If you are consenting to your Year 5 or Year 6 child walking home alone this must be done by email to your class teacher or njs.admin@taw.org.uk, if we do not have explicit consent for tomorrow and Friday we will not release children at 1.15pm to walk home.)

Girls taster session at NGHS

Thank you to all parents who have already acknowledged our half day trips to Newport Girls High School for the taster mornings. Just a reminder for those who haven’t, we have been invited to take the girls to NGHS  for a taster session. Girls from 5OP and half of 5P will go on the morning of Monday 29th and the girls from 5K and the other half of 5OP on the morning of Tuesday 30th June. We will be back for lunch.

We kindly ask parents to acknowledge the trip on parent pay.

Crucial Crew

Year 6 enjoyed a hot and sweaty Crucial Crew today! Even though it was hot, we had adequate shade under the marquees and lots of water.  Well done year 6!
