Cardboard for 6B tomorrow!

Please could children in 6B remember to bring in some cardboard and cellotape (if any spare at home) for our science experiment tomorrow?

6J Homework

Due to 6J being in Beech’s Base this afternoon, the children did not return to class to receive their homework books. Homework will go out on Monday and children can have until Friday to return it. Maths homework is available online at www.maths.co.uk

Y6 DT Days

Hope you and all of the children have had a restful half term! This week, all 3 classes will be having a Design and Technology Day with Mrs Lane creating their Shelters that they have planned over the first term. If children can bring in resources/materials (lollipop sticks, felt, cardboard, milk cartons, plastic bottles etc) to help them create their shelter they are more than welcome to. The more creative the merrier!

6M and 6J have planned their shelters so should know what they plan to do. 6B will be planning before making their shelter this week. The DT days for each class this week are:

6M – Tuesday

6J – Wednesday

6B – Thursday

6B Beech’s Base

Good morning,

I hope that you have all had a wonderful half term holiday.  Class 6B have Beech’s Base on the afternoon of Wednesday 5th November. 

The children will need to come to school dressed in forest school clothes, with a spare pair of shoes.

Newport Town Council Christmas Card Competition

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Newport town council are holding their annual children’s Christmas card competition. There are wonderful prizes to be won and the overall winner will be invited to turn on Newport’s Christmas lights!

We are inviting all children to take part and feel free to make a design over the half term holiday. You can paint, draw or colour to produce a wonderful creation. We would love to encourage your child to enter.

The competition rules state that the card should be A5 folded in half, no bigger than 10.5cm by 15cm. Please clearly print the following information on the back of the card:

  1. Name
  2. Age
  3. Home Address
  4. School Year Group
  5. School Name

Please can all cards be sent to all class teachers no later than 9am on Thursday 6th of November as we will need to sort all designs and prepare to hand them into the Guild Hall before the closing date on Friday 7th November. Any queries please e-mail Mrs Jukes on natalie.jukes.taw.org.uk.

We have been contacted by Admissions as a number of you have not made your secondary school application.  These must be made by the 31st October.

6B Skills 4 Bills

Thank you to Skills 4 Bills for an amazing session with 6B this morning.  The children enjoyed learning how to budget and save money.  Very valuable lessons learnt.

Y5/6 Indoor Athletics

We had a fantastic day at the Y5/6 Indoor Athletics event at TCAT today. The children looked brilliant in their new sports t-shirts and competed wonderfully across a range of track and field events. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience to be a part of for Mrs Lane and myself. We eagerly await the results that will come through at the end of the week.

If each child could bring a waterproof item and a non-waterproof item into school please this week for DT, this will help your child as we are investigating which materials we should be using to create a shelter.
