Year 5 B&V Visit

15th May 2026

Dear Parents/Carers,

During the summer term, the year 5 children will be experiencing a different range of visits and activities to develop tolerance and understanding of others. Our summer term topic in Beliefs and Values is Islam. With this, the children will gain an understanding into another religion and build an awareness around its principles. Leading up to a Mosque Visit (detailed below), the children will also attend an event at Cosy Hall (05.06.26) and will be attending an in school workshop from the Police Hate Crime team (11.06.26).

With this, the children will visit a Mosque (Telford Central Mosque) on Wednesday 1st July during the afternoon. This trip has been set up through our link with the Multicultural Service and has been planned to follow up on the Year 5 Beliefs and Values topic of Islam. We aim to leave school by 1:00pm and will return before the end of the school day. Children will eat lunch at school as normal.

During the visit the children will have an opportunity to explore the Mosque, making comparisons between the building and a Christian church; ask questions to leader of the Mosque and also be able to make links between the classroom based learning they have done and what this looks like in reality.

There is a voluntary contribution of £10.50 to help towards transport costs. If you would like any more information on the trip please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher. Please confirm attendance via parent pay.

Thank you for your support,

Mrs Kerr, Mrs Ollerenshaw, Mrs Parker and Mr Parker.

Holiday with times tables

Good afternoon all,

Another friendly reminder around the MTC approaching the week we return from our half term. It brings great joy to announce that this week our year 4 average has come out above the national target of 21. Amazing effort shown by all pupils, even if their score is lower than this the improvement they have shown helps build that average up.

I have discussed with 4L, methods to continue working on our tables over half term and they have some amazing ideas. Ask them yourselves and see if you can build some tables knowledge into your routine.

Our favoured way we discussed would be to use something the children are familiar with in school, the website ‘blooket’ (blooket.com) a great combination of questions and mini games. It can be played solo or multiplayer by simply sharing a game code once it has been hosted.

It is a free service, which requires a login to set up games, however anyone without an account can join a game once it has been set up.

Well worth a try…..you may find yourselves enjoying it at the same time.

Anything you are doing is appreciated as ever!

Piper Hair Donation

Piper is cutting her hair and donating at least 30cm to the Little Princess Trust Charity on Saturday 27th June. It costs the charity £550 to make her hair donation into a wig for a child going through cancer treatment so she is trying to raise this amount. The Just Giving page is below, there will also be a donation box in the school reception. Piper is hugely grateful for any donation, thank you.
