Year 3 Homework

Dear Parents and Carers,

As per previous messages, Year 3 children should, by now, have handed in their homework books. Please ensure that children have done so by tomorrow, to ensure they receive house points for work completed. Homework handed in after this date will receive marks, but no house points.

Year 3 Reading Diaries advice for parents

Dear Parents / Carers,

Over the past few days we have received several queries about how to fill in your child’s reading diary when you listen to them read – especially the comments sections. Attached are several documents which should help with this.

Ideally, children in Year 3 should be heard reading aloud every day, but we hope for at least 3 entries per week by an adult from home, to encourage reading for pleasure, fluency, expression, decoding text, and developing vocabulary and confidence when reading aloud. When an adult fills in a child’s Reading Diary with the book details and makes a comment / signs the diary, children are then rewarded in school with house points.

Please contact any of the Year 3 teachers if you have any questions about children reading in Year 3.

Year 3 Spellings and Homework due

Dear Parents,

Just a reminder that if your child wishes to have their homework efforts rewarded, please send in their completed projects / Orange books in, by the end of Thursday this week.

Children will be tested on their spellings this week.

Urgent request – Year 3!

Dear Parents and Carers,

Children in Year 3 will be making collages of cityscapes, skylines, and buildings as part of their Art curriculum, this week.

Collage combines various pieces of paper, magazines, sometimes materials, card etc, to make a new picture of something else.

Therefore, please could children in Year 3 bring in some materials to make the collages? We do have materials and resources to use in school, but would be really great if they could bring in any old magazines, papers, etc that you have in the recycling bin!

Year 3 Homework project and spelling test

Dear Parents / Carers,

Just a quick reminder that the Year 3 Roman shield project work is due in by the end of this week, and that spellings will be tested by your child’s class teacher during next week. If you have already brought in your shield, well done! Hopefully, if enough are completed and brought in, we will engage the children in an interactive Roman army demonstration!

Please bring in any work completed in homework books, for house point rewards.
