COVID Update

Just a quick note to let you know that there has been a positive COVID-19 case within Year 6.

You do not have to do anything, and your child will not have to self-isolate and can come in to school as normal, but you may be contacted by Test & Trace if your child is identified as a close contact. If they are, the advice you will be given on behalf of your child is as follows:

“Even if you do not have symptoms, you will be advised to have a PCR test as soon as possible. Children aged 4 and under will not be advised to take a test unless the positive case was someone in their own household.

You should not arrange to have a PCR test if you have previously received a positive PCR test result in the last 90 days, unless you develop any new symptoms of COVID-19, as it is possible for PCR tests to remain positive for some time after COVID-19 infection.

Even if you are vaccinated, you can still be infected with COVID-19 and pass it on to others. If you are identified as a contact of someone with COVID-19 but you are not required to self-isolate, you can help protect others by following the guidance on how to stay safe and help prevent the spread. As well as getting a PCR test, you may also consider:

  • limiting close contact with people outside your household, especially in enclosed spaces
  • wearing a face covering in enclosed spaces and where you are unable to maintain social distancing
  • limiting contact with anyone who is clinically extremely vulnerable
  • taking part in twice weekly LFD testing

This advice applies until 10 full days after your most recent contact with the person who has tested positive for COVID-19.

If you develop symptoms at any time, even if these are mild, self-isolate immediately, arrange to have a COVID-19 PCR test and follow the guidance for people with COVID-19 symptoms.”

You may wish to follow this advice in any case, but we would certainly ask that you are vigilant for symptoms and if your child does develop symptoms, keep them off school and get them PCR tested using the following link: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

Year 6 Wrekin Trip

Year 6 finished off their ‘Mountain’ topic this week, by going for a walk up the Wrekin. The plan was to climb the Wrekin and look at the view and note the different landscapes. Unfortunately, the weather had different plans for us! The whole year successfully climbed the Wrekin, but the visibility was so poor, we couldn’t see much! We all still had a brilliant time though.

Hopefully you received your invite outlining what you need to bring but here is a brief reminder:

Year 6 Wrekin Trip

Just a reminder for Year 6 children that we are visiting The Wrekin on Monday as part of our on-going Geography curriculum.

We will be leaving school at 9:15am and returning to school after lunch. We will be eating our lunch at the top of the Wrekin so please remember your packed lunch, including plenty of fluids – if you are in receipt of free school meals then these have been offered to the children.

Please wear suitable outdoor clothing, we suggest bringing a waterproof jacket and sensible, outdoor footwear suitable for muddy condition – we do not recommend wellies!

We are really looking forward to the trip!

Year 6 Swimming reminder

Can we please remind parents that children need to bring their swimming kit to school every Monday. We have had a number of children not bringing their kit and unable to swim. Swimming is a vital part of the Year 6 P.E. curriculum.

Children should be bringing their swimming costume/trunks, plus a towel, swimming cap and goggles if required.

Thank you,

Year 6 team.

Year 6: update

Year 6 Parents and Carers,

I am emailing to advise you that a Year 6 pupil has tested positive for COVID.

It is the role of Track and Trace to identify and communicate with contacts rather than the school.

If you are contacted by Track and Trace you will be advised to take your child for a PCR test. In this situation, unless symptomatic, your child can attend for school whilst they await a result.

Please can you all be vigilant for symptoms in your children and if they become unwell book a test and advise the office on 01952 386600 that your child will remain at home whilst they await a result.

Thank you all for your support.

Best wishes

Mrs Moody
