Yr 6 Message

Please can all Y6 pupils that walk/cycle/scoot to and from school, please be reminded that the school car park and Avenue Road are busy areas of traffic between 3.15 and 3.30 and that they should not be congregating in this area. All children should be walking home as soon as they leave the school site.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR ALL… PARENTPAY

Finally!  We’re on!  Whoop!

We can only apologise for the delay which was out of our hands.

Year 3 families and new starters in Years 4, 5 and 6 your activation letters (in envelopes) will be sent home with your children this evening.  Your letter contains your unique log in and instructions to get started.

Please can we ask that you urgently activate your ParentPay account because….

Clubs will go live tomorrow afternoon and residentials on Tuesday.

Just a reminder ahead of clubs going live tomorrow…

Clubs at NJS are FREE and run by our own amazing team of staff.  They volunteer their time to pursue an interest with the children and I am very grateful for this.  In return we ask:

*Parents/carers are punctual to collect children from after school clubs at 4pm from the main green gates onto the main playground.

*If parents/carers sign children up to a club they are expected to attend: two occasions of non attendance we will contact you to discuss removing your child from the register to enable another child to attend.

*We ask that the children sign up to a maximum of two clubs that have limited numbers (you could sign up to choir and drama in addition) so that everyone has chance to join.  If we find you have signed up to three we will sadly have to remove you from the registers.

*Clubs will NEVER be cancelled on the day: if a staff member is unwell or the weather makes the activity difficult to complete we will arrange an alternative in school so we don’t disrupt your collection arrangements.

*IMPORTANT: clubs may be cancelled with a weeks notice, we avoid this but sometimes it isn’t possible.  Please ensure you check the weekly newsletter that your child’s club will be on the following week.

REMEMBER:

If a club isn’t showing on ParentPay this means no places are remaining.

If a club is showing and you ‘checkout’ for this club then you have a place and your child will be expected to start next week.

Please note children in Years 5 and 6 can go to Maths Club on a Wednesday.

4PW TTRS Heat maps

Dear 4PW Parents and Carers,

4PW will be coming home tonight with TTRS heat maps stuck in the back of their Home Link diaries. These heat maps show which tables your child already knows and what they are good at! Red and orange are questions we need to be improving and grey tables are ones that your child doesn’t know yet. If your child has joined us in Year 4 they might have grey questions but already know the times table. This is because they need to spend more time on TTRS to improve the data it has. For the new children, we will recheck their heat maps in a few weeks once they have spent more time logging into TTRS.

Your child’s TTRS password and log in details can be found at the front of their Home Link book and a letter went home on Monday explaining how to log in – please check bags incase they have been eaten! TTRS is part of our homework.

Thank you for your continuing support! If you have any questions please speak to myself or Mrs Wheat.

Mrs P 🙂

Calling New Global Avengers

Mr Jones is on the hunt for his new team of Global Avengers!

This is a club set up for children who want to make a difference to the world around them; be the voice for those who can’t speak for themselves.

In recent years, Global Avengers spearheaded a campaign for Toilet Twinning, where we managed to put toilets in 5 of the poorest parts of the world: Shropshire Star Link.

This year, we are hoping to embark on a new global project, where the children will lead the way in being advocates of change and making a difference to those most in need.

This club meet every Thursday lunch time in 6J. If you think it is something you would be interested in, please sign up on Parent Pay or speak to Mr Jones for more information!
