RE: Yr. 5 Residential Visit to Arthog Monday 7th – Friday 11th March 2022

Dear Parents,

I am writing to you regarding a residential visit to Arthog. This is now our Year 5 residential, and we have booked to take the Year 5’s in March 2022.

The visit is booked to take place from Monday 7th to Friday 11th March 2022.  During the visit the children will be taking part in a range of activities which will include, canoeing, rock climbing, orienteering, gorge walking and mountaineering amongst others.

The cost of the week will be £270. Children who are receiving free school meals or whose parents receive Child Tax Credit/Income Support will be eligible for remissions supported by the LEA.  Evidence of this entitlement will need providing with the first deposit. All payments are non-refundable.

If your child would like a place on the visit, you will receive a payment card.  This card needs to be handed in when making each payment so that we can confirm receipt. Please find a payment schedule below which will help to spread the costs of the trip.

By Friday 22nd October                            –          £70 (This will confirm your child’s place)

By Friday 26th November                        –          £70

By Friday 28th January                           –          £70

By Friday 18th February                          –          £60

If you would like your child to have a place on this residential, please return the slip below, with the first payment, by Friday 22nd October. At this point your child will receive their payment card. Please note, a late first payment/deposit may result in your child not being assigned a place.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I will arrange an information session for early Spring.

Yours sincerely,

Mr B Moody

Beech’s Base

Good Morning!

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend. From next week we will be inviting classes to Beech’s Base.  Half of the designated class will visit in the morning and half will go in the afternoon.

The classes which will visit next week are as follows:

Tuesday 28th September – 5H

Wednesday 29th September – 3B

Children can arrive in their clothing for outdoor learning and clean footwear (trainers):

  • Old clothing (Even if the forecast is looking warm children need to wear trousers and long sleeved tops to ensure they have a layer of protection from brambles and nettles, likewise layers to wrap up if it is cold please)
  • Suitable waterproof clothing if the weather is wet.
  • Optional waterproof trousers or all in one for water fun.

Children will need to bring in a separate named carrier bag:

  • Wellies/Outdoor Footwear
  • Clothing to change into after their session. Uniform not required on this day.

Thank you for being patient, I can’t wait to get the children over to Beech’s Base and get stuck in! Further information will be communicated with dates for when other classes will visit.

If you have any questions please email me: jeni.kuczynska@taw.org.uk

Many thanks

Mrs Kuczynska

5H voting for worship leaders

Once again, I am very proud of all the children in 5H who made a speech when we voted for Worship Leaders this morning.

YR 5 Autumn Term Homework

Please find the Autumn Term homework for the Year 5 children in the links below.

We have provided the children with some Maths which follows the work the children are completing in class, the Spelling words which are key Year 5 words – with some ideas for how to learn them, Reading expectations and Egyptian related homework – this to last until Christmas. New spellings will be assigned after October half term.

Please support your child where necessary and please contact us directly if you need anything more.

We are impressed with how all the children have settled into Year 5 and are quickly picking up the new rules and routines and we hope you have all noticed this too?

Kindest regards

Team Year 5 (Mr M, Miss H and Mr Marsh)
