3P Deer Park

3P had a wonderful time at the Deer Park on Tuesday 14th October.

My group were lucky enough to see a herd of deer! We also measured around the outside of a tree in order to work out how old it was. Lucy was spot on with 500 years old! Well done Lucy.

The whole of 3P were amazing and did NJS proud!

Class 3P Beech’s Base this Friday 17th October (PM)

Dear Parents and Carers of 3P,

Just to let you know that 3P have our first Beech’s Base session in school, on Friday 17th October this week, all afternoon. Mr Butler sends his apologies this was not mentioned on the last weekly diary post on Friday last week.  There will be some curriculum-based activities and some exploratory/enrichment ones, in the woodland environment at the bottom of NJS school field.

Please ensure you send your child in wearing clothing that is weather-appropriate / waterproof coats etc, which will keep them warm and dry, i.e.: clothing fairly similar to their Chetwynd Deer Park clothing, wearing a pair of normal trainers for the inside, and their wellies in a bag for the afternoon. The afternoon will go ahead in all weathers, unless it is torrential / dangerous.

They will need clothing that they don’t mind getting muddy, as it can be boggy down there. Wellies ARE advised – trainers / walking boots may get heavily soiled by the mud. Several children have, in the past, worn their new white trainers – suffice to say, they weren’t ‘white’ ever again! Long sleeves and trouser legs are a requirement, as they may encounter nettles and thorns. Some children occasionally do wear waterproof over-trousers if they have them – its up to you.

As always, if you need to, please ask questions of us on the yard first thing/ straight after school, or you can email directly.

Kind regards,

Mrs Porteous

6B Skills 4 Bills

Thank you to Skills 4 Bills for an amazing session with 6B this morning.  The children enjoyed learning how to budget and save money.  Very valuable lessons learnt.

Well done everyone!

Show racism the red card this Friday! – 17th October

Remember to wear an item of red clothing along with your uniform or come dressed totally in red this Friday!

Friday 17th October- NJS will show the red card to racism!

Children do not need to bring in any money for this event.

IMPORTANT

Please can we remind parents and carers that NJS does not supervise children until 8.45am.

When children are waiting to be collected by their teachers they should be stood on the playground and not running around, scooting or cycling.  We also ask, for their safety, that children are not on the field or in the trees.  This of course also applies to younger siblings.

Thank you for your support.

Y5/6 Indoor Athletics

We had a fantastic day at the Y5/6 Indoor Athletics event at TCAT today. The children looked brilliant in their new sports t-shirts and competed wonderfully across a range of track and field events. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience to be a part of for Mrs Lane and myself. We eagerly await the results that will come through at the end of the week.

Class 3M and Bungalow visit to Chetwynd Deer Park Thursday 16th October 9am-12pm

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Thursday 16th October, Class 3M and the Bungalow will be visiting Chetwynd Deer Park, to take part in a 2 hour nature activity session. We will be leaving promptly on Thursday at 9am, so please ensure your child is on time.

We will be walking, leaving NJS at 9am, up to the pedestrian entrance (off Chester Road, opposite Deer Park Drive) and walking back again for 12pm.  Please check the weather forecast on the day and dress accordingly. Children need the following:

  • wear suitable clothing and footwear for the outdoor activities (no jeans please). It may be wet grass / some mud, potentially.
  • a warm, waterproof (if possible) jacket /coat as we will be outside regardless of the weather.
  • a change of footwear for when they are back in class in the afternoon

The children will leave their school bags here at school but may take their water bottle and suitable snack. Lunchtime will take place at school as normal. The session is free of charge. Most children’s parents have now given consent, however any children without consent will remain in school with the other classes in Year 3.

As always, if you have any questions, please ask and we will be happy to help.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Year 3 Team.

Lost coat…

Lenny in 5OP has lost his coat, it does have his name in.  Please can everyone check they have the right coat and let teachers know should it be found.
