Yr 6 Homework

Homework is due by Wednesday 5th February 2025.

We have seen an increase in the number of children not completing or submitting their homework on time. The setting of homework is part of our on-going efforts to prepare children for their upcoming transition to secondary school, where homework is a daily occurrence.

  1. Complete spellings as per the statutory spelling list. Year 5-6 spellings (pg 2 of this document)
  2. Complete maths worksheet – converting between fractions/decimals/percentages. This follows on from our work in class this week. fractions-decimals-percents-2
  3. Complete worksheet on proof reading and editing passages of text. Please ensure the sentences are completed with legible handwriting and are punctuation correctly. Editing punctuation

Drinks & Snacks – Newport Hub Visit

Burton Borough have kindly provided a price list for items that will be on sale at Newport Hub during our visit on Tuesday.

A reminder that children will walk down with staff at 3.15pm and will be accompanied by staff throughout their visit. We ask that parents collect their children from The Hub between 4 – 4.15pm.

Yr 6 SATs Workshop – Monday 3rd February

On Monday evening, the Yr 6 team will be hosting a SATs workshop in the school hall. This is a chance for us to share some key information with you about the upcoming KS2 SATs. We will talk through logistics of the tests, the content of the papers, test timings, how the week will be organised for the children & some ideas as to how you can help at home.

Children are welcome to attend with you should you need them to.

5K in Beech’s base tomorrow

Just a reminder 5K is at Beech’s base tomorrow. Children can come to school in their outdoor clothing with a pair of outdoor schools in a bag. All children must have a pair of indoor schools/trainers on. Remember coats, hats ,glove etc.. as it is still quite cold outdoor.

SPACE DOME – 03.02.25

Good morning,

Next week the children in year 5 will experience the space dome! We still have some children without permission.
Please could we ask you to check parent pay to state if your child can take part or not.

Statutory Spelling Words

Following the Year 6 lunch & learn today, some parents requested a copy of the national curriculum statutory spelling words. These words are used each week through homework and are also revised through English lessons.

Yr 5 6 Spellings – words children are expected to know by the end of Yr 6.

Yr 3 4 Spellings – words children are expected to know by the end of Yr 4.
