Year 3 PE, Spellings and Homework

Dear Parents,

This half term, there will be no spellings to learn for the first week back – however, please continue to encourage your children to complete their Roman shield homework. These are due for completion on Friday 28th February.

Children should also continue to play Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) as often as possible. Currently, all the Year 3 classes are in battles with other year groups, so we need those points!

PE News – Year 3 will be Swimming next half term, on Tuesdays. Please ensure your child has the correct kit on these days. If your child is taking part in non-swimmers club (invitation only), this runs throughout the year, so they should bring their kit on their allocated day, even if their PE is not ‘Swimming’.

Have a restful half term.

Thank you for your continued support,

Regards,

The Year 3 Team

Online Safety Week!

Lots of activities in school this week to mark National Online Safety week.

We will be sending out some useful information to parents over the week starting with this useful guide to WhatsApp:

Year 6 WhatsApp Groups

Dear Parents/Carers,

I have been informed today, by some parents, about a Year 6 WhatsApp group called ‘Selling Stuff for Cheap’.  On this group many Year 6 NJS children are selling personal items to each other.  We would advise parents and carers to check their child’s involvement in this group.  I have spoken to all of the children about this group today.

Please can we recommend that you regularly review your child’s conversations that are taking place on social media and online.

Best wishes

Mrs Moody

Message for Parents/Carers: Pupil Safety

Please note that I have received the following message from the Local Authority safeguarding team.  It refers to an incident involving a pupil from Moorfield Primary School this afternoon:

One of our year 6 pupils was walking home this evening along Boughey Road in Newport.  As she got to the first turning, a man grabbed her by the arm and said “you’re coming with me”

The pupil managed to pull herself away and ran home.  She said that it all happened very quickly and she didn’t have a full description but she described the man as old.   Mum has phoned 101.’

Please be vigilant.  Discuss travel to school arrangements with your child and advice for keeping safe.
