Year 3 Parent Readers

Dear parents,

All Year 3 classes are looking for parent readers to volunteer and help us to hear readers in the afternoons. All volunteers must be subject to DBS checks. If you are interested and would be available to volunteer some hours in the afternoons, please let the Year 3 teachers know.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks for all your help!

The Year 3 Team

3J Reading

Could parents please ensure that they are hearing their children read and are recording it in the yellow reading diary every night. Children should also be recording independent reading that they do in their diaries as well – every little helps!

The children know that in the 3J class, the more times they read the more house points they can earn!

Good luck reading guys! Can’t wait to give out all the house points!

3J and 3B Christmas Card Designs

The children in 3J and 3B have been given a Christmas Card Template (3B received theirs on Friday) to complete their Christmas card designs. 3P will be completing their cards in class unless otherwise informed. They need to ensure that their design is within the black border, otherwise it will not be photocopied correctly. Children also need to decorate the whole box; any white will take away from the design. Please encourage children to use bold, solid colours in either colouring pencil or felt tip pen. Do not use glitter, shiny card, 3D objects or any other glued on designs. It is also very important that the designs come back flat and are not folded as the photocopier will pick this up too. These designs need to be completed by Friday 21st September. We hope you enjoy making your Christmas card design; we are very excited to see them!

Good luck 3J and 3B!

Year 3 Science Homework for Monday 17th September

Children have a piece of Science homework to complete for the lesson on Monday 17th September – see their homelink book / seperate message stuck in their homelink books for more details. If you have any questions, please see your class teacher by Friday 14th September. Thank you.

Year 3 Parent information

Dear Parents,

A warm welcome to all new parents and Year 3 children! Here follows some general information about Year 3:

Communication:

If you have any important information to tell us about your child, or would like us to know something, please write it in the homelink book, on the relevant page. We will ask children everyday whether they have any messages from you, to share with us. Please ensure you check this book every day, as we will also use it to write messages to you. We will also be sharing information via the website, flagged for Year 3. Alternatively, we are available at the start and end of every day, outside the Year 3 block, should you need to speak directly to us.

Daily equipment:

Children should be bringing their Homelink Books home every day, and returning to school with them the next day. They should also bring to school their Reading Record and reading books, and their pencil cases. They should, by the end of this week, have two reading books, one at a level chosen by their teacher, and one free choice. Each class teacher will endeavour to do this by Friday, so please bear with us!

PE:

Our PE days this term are Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, we request that children bring their PE kit in on a Monday and leave it in school until Friday. This is because there are occasionally times when we may need to change the day / timing of the lesson, to fit in with other events in school.

Homework:

During a normal week, children will receive spelling and tables to practice on a Friday, to be tested the following Friday. They may also receive a piece of English, Maths or Science work to do, usually to support the lesson, for the following Friday. Your child may need support with these tasks. Children are also expected to read with an adult at least 3 times per week (ideally every day at this age!) and you will need to sign their reading diary and fill in a comment when you listen to them reading. We will reward children who can hand in homework on time and completed correctly.

Thanks for your continued support,

The Year 3 team.
