Year 3 Spellings and homework to be tested 7.2.20

Dear Parents,

Apologies for the late post – we forget to up load these. Hopefully your child should have brought home their spellings and homework last week, on Friday.

Year 3 Spellings and homework to be tested 7.2.20

Homework for February

Over the next week, children need to complete their Roman poster homework for Friday 7th February. 

After this, Year 3 will be studying Roman shield designs. As part of their studies, homework until Friday 28th February will be to make a full-sized shield.During this period, Reading and Spelling homework will continue as usual.

Children may use a variety of materials to make their shields. In the past, we have had mainly painted cardboard ones, made from large cardboard box materials, various coloured foils for decoration, cardboard tubes or pieces of wood for handles and papier mâché designs on the fronts / sometimes small plastic bowls or foil pie-casings covered in paint /glue mixtures for the ‘lumps’ on the front of their shields.

We would like the Roman shields to be approximately 1m high. Children can use a range of materials to make and decorate their shields according to their planned design.

Year 3 Spellings and Homework to be tested 31.1.20

Dear Parents,

Year 3 Spellings and homework to be tested 31.01.20

Attached are the spellings and homework for this week.

Please help your child to read at least three times out loud to you, and record it in their Reading Diary. In addition, children need to be allowed access to Times Tables Rock Stars, for about 5-10mins every day, to help them increase fluency and accuracy. This week, the tests will be on all their tables! As usual, 3B will test spellings on Thursday 30th, with 3P / 3W testing on Friday 31st January.

Finally, we would like children to complete a ‘Roman’ poster, of display quality, (min. size A4) about any aspect of Roman Life they wish. Suggestions could be gladiators, Roman Baths, Roman Gods, the Colosseum, daily Roman life, Roman Emperors, the Roman Empire and Legacy. The Roman poster is due for completion in two weeks, on Friday 7th February.

Wax Work Museum Friday 31st January 2pm

Dear Parents,

I would like to apologise for any confusion over the date of the Wax work Museum event. It is NOT on tomorrow, but will be on Friday 31st January, the last day of the month, at 2pm. You are invited to attend the museum at this time.

Therefore, please do NOT send your children in dressed up tomorrow!

Wax Museum day – inspirational person choice

Dear Parents,

We are fast approaching the waxwork museum inspirational person day on our calendar, yet there are large numbers of children across year 3 who have yet to decide which person they will be dressing up as / researching.

Those children will be given a second letter and reply slip either today or tomorrow. Please write who they will be and return the slip by TOMORROW, Friday 17th January or Monday 20th January,  so that we can help the children to do work on their chosen person during next week’s English lessons.

This will also give you time to help them to create a costume to dress up in for the waxwork museum day next Friday (24th January).

Thank you to those who have already replied – we are really looking forward to what should be another fantastic display of your children’s efforts and we hope to see you next Friday afternoon.

Year 3 Christmas message / PE days for Spring term

Dear Parents,

PE days for Spring term are:

3P / 3W = Tuesdays and Thursdays

3B = Thursdays and Fridays

We will not be swimming until the 2nd half term, so please bring normal PE kit on both days during the first half term.

We would also like to thank all parents and carers in Year 3 for their continued support and ask you that although there is no additional homework, children should continue to read and practice their tables over the holidays (TTRS).

We hope you have a relaxing and fun Christmas break!

3P on the Green Screen

For the past week, we have been writing instructions on how to wash a woolly mammoth.  Today, we started to use the Green Screen to help you at home know how to wash one too.  Stay tuned there’s more to come tomorrow! Well done to all of you so far.TS,IS, WB, HO, EW
