Swimming Cancelled

We are really sorry but Year 3 were unable to swim today and Year 4 will not be able to swim tomorrow…..we desperately need our refurbished, reliable pool!

No more swimming now until later in the Spring when the work on the pool is completed.

Thank you for your support.

5H homework apology

Apologies – I didn’t send home last week’s homework on Friday with 5H. I have given it out today so that you and they can see what it was. If your child wishes to do this homework then they are of course welcome to. However, I do not expect them to do it because I know that most of them like to do it at the weekend, and this weekend they will have homework for this week! There will not be a spelling test this week because of this, but of course the children are welcome to learn and practise the words if they wish. Many thanks, Miss H.

Spellings due 28th November

Due to the changes in the Literacy curriculum children in Year 6 are expected to be secure with all KS2 spellings. There will be no choice of spellings, in terms of degree of difficulty. All children, of all abilities, need to learn the following for next week:

favourite grammar
knowledge mention
natural occasionally
opposite particular
peculiar possession

To support with understanding definitions for spellings, the ‘Collins children’s cobuild dictionary’ is a very useful tool.

Homework due 28th November

Read at least 3 times and ask an adult to sign your reading diary to confirm.

Learn your spellings. Complete detailed sentences and definitions in your homework book.

Complete the multiplication grid – one grid a night to be completed over several nights

Equivalent fraction worksheet to be completed. Children will make a choice from 1 star, 2 star and 3 star.

Equivalent fractions – children need to either multiply or divide the numerator and the denominator by the same value to show equivalence.

Homework – Week 12!

Homework- Spellings this week are topic based. The spelling test will be next Friday.

Spellings Wk 12

Times tables have always been a big part of the curriculum. From next September, there will be a times tables test in year 4. Children will only have 6 seconds per question. Therefore, each week, they will be receiving times tables homework to complete as well as reading 3 times and the set activity. We are starting with the 2x tables and will progress each week to secure the rapid recall.

This week, the children will come home with a fronted adverbial activity. Please read the guidance for parents, which contains an explanation so that you can help your child should they need it.

If you have any questions regarding homework, please do not hesitate to approach any of the year 4 teachers.

Finally, homework, which consists of: reading x3, spellings, times tables and an English activity, is due in Monday 26th or Tuesday 27th November.
