Year 6 Parents/Carers,
I just wanted to write to let you know how very proud I am of the Year 6 children this week. They have been positive, hardworking and resilient; a credit to us all. Four years of hard work at NJS and I am so proud of their efforts in their SAT assessments this week, a very sincere well done to them all.
I would like to thank you all for your ongoing support for NJS and of course for the support and encouragement you have given your children this week. Thanks of course to the NJS staff team who have organised and cooked for breakfast club, cared for the children to ensure they can feel confident and do their best and organised a lot of events over the coming weeks for the children to look forward to!
We celebrated this afternoon with Leavers Hoodies! Enormous thanks to our committed PTA for their fundraising work which covers the cost of this gift to the children. They look fabulous! It was wonderful to see the children so excited receiving them this afternoon and to begin celebrations with them as our ‘NJS Leavers 2024’.
We have explained the following to the children about the Leavers Hoodies:
*From today they can be worn to school in place of their usual green school jumper. Please do keep hold of a green jumper as there may be an occasion where we specifically ask for these to be worn.
*Children must not wear their hoods up.
*We are (hopefully!) in the warmer months of the year so we have reminded the children that when it is warm they should remove their jumper to keep cool! (we often find the children so ‘attached’ to their hoodies they refuse to take them off and get very hot instead!)
*We have explained to the children the jumper is now their responsibility and they need to take care of it. Unfortunately if it gets lost or damaged we cannot replace them.
We are very much looking forward to the next few weeks with our ‘NJS Leavers 2024’. As you are aware we have lots of things to look forward to including Alton Towers, Photography Workshop, London Residential and Leavers Day! Please do look out for further details on the school newsletters as usual.
Of course the curriculum continues as well! The National Curriculum continues as the Year 6 teachers will work to ensure our children are ‘Secondary Ready’ across all curriculum areas.
Over the coming weeks Secondary Schools will be hosting transition days and events: please do inform njs.admin@taw.org.uk if any of this activity falls during school time on dates other than the 1st and 2nd July (these are the Telford and Wrekin transition days on which we fully expect most Year 6 children to be at their new secondary schools).
Thank you as always for your support.
Mrs M
