NJS Lost Property….

There is lots…. If it was named we would return it to your child…

Our wonderful group of parent helpers will be sorting through the Lost Property and laying this out to be claimed Friday/tomorrow after school: please do ensure you view to reclaim any of your items.

Then… Thursday 17th July 3.15pm any unclaimed Lost Property will be ‘for sale’ on the main playground for a donation to School Fund.

Please do reclaim your items!

Yellow & Green swimming gala

A reminder for children in yellow and green house that it is the swimming gala on Thursday.

Gala will be 2-3pm and children can be collected by a parent/carer from the pool. All remaining children will be walked back to NJS by staff.

Yr 6 PE Session at BBS

Please can children in Yr 6 bring their PE kits with them to school tomorrow (Wednesday) as we have been invited to BBS for a tennis session with their staff & children in the afternoon. Children will be collected from NJS as normal.

Only children attending BBS will be taking par, the remaining children will remain at school with Mr Marsh.

NJS Fest 2025!

Suspense is building! Not long to go!

We are very excited for the 2025 NJS Fest being held on Wednesday 16th July!

A few details:

*Bucket hats that were ordered and paid for will be given out on Tuesday 15th July.

*Children can attend NJSFest in their own ‘festival style’ clothing!

*NJSFest takes place within the school day so usual drop off and pick up procedures apply.

*Children can bring a packed lunch or the kitchen are doing a special festival menu: hotdogs and chips!

On ParentPay you have the option to give consent for:

*Your child to have their face painted.

*Your child to have an ice pop.

Consent closes on the 15th July: please go onto ParentPay before then to give consent to avoid your child missing out.

NJS Online Safety Newsletter July 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Attached is the last NJS Online Safety newsletter for this academic year. This month’s edition includes safety information and advice about the following topics:

Nintendo Switch 2 & GameChat
- New GameChat feature allows voice, screen sharing, and video chat (with camera accessory). Up to 12 users can chat while gaming. Parents should ensure children know how to report inappropriate behavior. See link for more on GameChat.
Parental Controls for Nintendo Switch
- There is a free app available to monitor playtime, restrict games by age rating, and manage GameChat access. Children under 15 need parental approval to use GameChat. See link to set up parental controls.
PEGI Age Ratings
- PEGI rates games based on age suitability, not difficulty. It does not cover user-generated content or in-game chat. PEGI info – see link
ZEPETO App
- Social avatar app for ages 13+ with chat and room design features.
  Risks: exposure to inappropriate content, online bullying, and in-app purchases.
  No parental controls, but privacy settings can be adjusted.

Sprunki Game
- Multiple versions exist; some contain explicit violence and disturbing content.
  Always check the version and its content warnings. See link for Sprunki safety info
Online Challenges
- 68% of children watch prank/challenge videos.
- Some challenges are dangerous and have led to harm.
- Talk to your child about risks and encourage open communication.
- Guide for parents
Omegle & Similar Sites
- Omegle is gone, but Ome.tv and similar platforms remain. These are not safe for children due to explicit content and random video chats. See link for more on chat apps
Conversation Starter
- Scenario-based discussion: What should a child do if they see bullying in a group chat?
- Encourage kindness, speaking up, and telling a trusted adult.
Transition to Secondary School
- Resources available to support children moving to secondary school. See link for Transition guide

Good Luck to Yr 6 Transition

We would like to wish all our year 6 children who will be visiting their new secondary school the best of luck for their transition on Monday & Tuesday.

We expect the children to wear their green school jumper for their transition days.

We can’t wait to hear about how well you have all got on!
